airport infrastructure

As the demand for air travel continues to grow, Governments search for long-term strategies that will maximise the beneficial aspects of aviation for the economy and for the population at large, whilst minimising the negative impacts that this growth has.

Aviation is a major UK industry, carrying over 180 million passengers and over 2.1 million tonnes of freight a year. The countrys airports handle a total of 63 million passengers per year, with Heathrow Europe’s busiest.

With the major redevelopment of Heathrow already underway and expansion at other airports in the South East planned, many hundreds of millions of pounds are being invested to ensure these meet the needs of the 21st century, thereby ensuring the continuing prosperity of the country whilst maintaining its position in the global market.

Schofield Lothian is playing its part; through its involvement with the major Central Terminal Area (CTA) renovation project at Heathrow and in particular the recent completion of Terminal 5.
